General Information

Your Age: 25
Timezone: Brisbane, GMT +10, No daylight savings
Country: Australia

Raiding Status

Are you applying as a hardcore raider or a casual: Hardcore
Will you be available to raid between 11pm to 3am (10pm to 2am during dst) server time on Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays (If app'ing as hardcore)? Yes, the raiding times are the main reason for my application
Connection Type (ADSL/Cable etc): ADSL2+
Connection Reliability (DC'ing consistently is not considered stable): Very Stable

Character Information

Name: Cromagg
Race: Dranei
Class: Warrior
Current server, if transferring: Jubei'Thos
What is your optimal PvE Spec: 18/53/0 Fury or 12/3/56 Protection
Are you willing to respec? Yes

Alts (Lvl 60+) and their names: None.
Has your character ever undergone any name changes and if so, please list them: No.

Voice Communication

Do you have Ventrillo installed? Yes
Do you talk on Ventrillo? Only if spoken to basically.

Gear

What would be an optimal stat make up for your class based on your desired pve spec and why? For a fury warrior at at least 8% hit and 26 expertise rating is essential.  After this the value of these stats diminish very quickly.  My goal is to have 100% hard capped armour penetration but at the moment I am soft capped and are gemming strength until I have the gear possible to try to attain the hard cap.  The most valuable stats for a fury warrior is ArP and Str depending on your gear.  I use landsoul's spreadsheet to determine how to maximise my dps.

With my tanking gear I'm at 39.5k health unbuffed, way over the 540 defense cap and the main stats I try to get are armour and stamina and then after that - defense, dodge, parry etc. With the -20% dodge debuff in ICC I have started heavily favouring armour and stamina alot more than I used to.

Experience

Please explain your past PvE experience starting from Classic WoW: I was a warrior in the time when warriors only did one thing - tank.
What is the hardest boss you've killed and why? Nefarion from Blackwing Lair - My old guild on an american server took 3 months to get to him, slowly progessing each week until we finally got to the dreaded black dragon.  After 3 weeks we finally downed him and there was much rejoycing.  Nefarion would call out classes and then mess with them - with each class having a completely different outcome.  This made sure that every person in the 40 man raid had to know what he was doing so only with perfect cohesion could we down him.
Are you the original owner of this account? Yes
Previous guilds & reasons for leaving: Currently in Faithless, Looking to come here due to move favourable raiding times
What are you past PvP Achievements (Commander/Rank 11/Rival/Duelist/Gladiator etc): Rank 10 Arms Warrior in vanilla WoW.  Am only starting to get back into PvP now as I had to change my Protection Spec to Arms.  But I would change back if the guild needed me to.
Please give us a brief explanation of your time in PvP: I don't pvp that much unless its with my mate who is a druid.  He heals and entangling roots targets so I can easily unleash my powerful mortal strikes and overpowers while keeping me alive and I keep him alive.
Do you have any experiences with the loot council system? What do you think of this method of loot distribution? I have had both positive and negative experiences with that system.  I think as long as the members of the loot council are fair then the system works very well.

References

Non-Revanche references: Kevincoster - 80 Druid and PvP partner
Revanche references: None, applied after seeing a member asking for new trials

Class Information

Please explain the role of your class (with your desired spec) in end game raiding: A warrior is either a tank or melee dps.  As melee dps the role of the warrior is sustained dps on a target. As a tank the idea is to create enough threat to keep the targets focused on yourself while also having enough mitigation to survive the encounter.
What is the difference between a good and bad player of your class? A good fury warrior know his move rotation properly and knows how to gear and gem his equipment.  As a warrior is the most gear dependant class in the game it is very important to have the right spec, enchants and gems with you equipment.  I also use landsoul's spreadsheet to figure out how to use my current gear in the way that will give me the most DPS.
List the raiding mods that you are currently using: Deadly Boss Mods, Gearscore, Recount
Recent WWS/WoWmeteronline Parse: Have not used this resource as of yet

If possible, please link a screenshot of your UI in raid at the end of the application.

About You

I'm a 25 year old uni student studying science majoring in genetics and microbiology.  I am a bit of a night owl and that is why I would like to raid at the later times.  I'm a friendly, quiet kind of guy and enjoy helping out my guildmates.

Hi Cromagg.

If you're applying for fury/prot you might want to include your desired glyph set up for prot. Anyway, good luck with your app. Admin will be looking into it soon.

Hello Cromagg.

We talked last night, nice to see you've got your app fast!

Before the admins come on, I'd like to advise you to go check out and give http://www.guild-revanche.org/index.php/topic,5.0.html a read.

Perhaps you could also beef up the "About you" part of the application.

Cheers and good luck. Smiley

Hi Cromagg,

We're discussing your application, so give us a few days to process. In the meantime, like what Rwaarr said, you might want to visit http://www.guild-revanche.org/index.php/topic,5.0.html to fully read and understand the guild more.

Also, stating that you require hit/exp caps is correct, especially when you are running an arp setup. However, above the said hit/exp caps, these stats do not "diminish" per say, it simply just becomes useless, hence the "cap". Just thought I'll clarify.

Psyber, what you've said for expertise is true for dodge, if for say there are bosses where you have to hit from the front at any time, extra expertise does technically negate more parry than the dodge ur capped at, so yes it does technically deminish rather than is completely useless.

and as for hit, over 8% does diminish on a fury warrior as well, not completely useless, as the 2 hand weapon hit cap is actually 27% so what you've said is right for druids, but not for fury warriors Tongue

so in short, extra expertise is the only thing u could say is "basically" useless, but extra hit, not as much Tongue

^ What he said, exp do diminish under the situation where you have to factor in parry but it's of course become really useless when you reached the hard cap. For hit, it's impossible and impractical for a dual-wield class to hardcap hit unlike caster/2-handers/paw so after the softcap hit have been reached, hit weightage drops alot but definitely not to the point of useless.

But anyway, this got nothing to do with the application hehe.

Well the reason hit diminishes so much is because when you have a good level of epic gear you have a very high rage generation.  Because of this you can turn most of your main hand attacks into heroic strikes which only need the 8% hit cap - so going much over 8% only affects your offhand and only a small amount of your main hand white damage.  Expertise is capped at 26 but only if you're behind the target.  So while both hit and expertise are undesirable, they aren't completely useless for a fury warrior.

My glyph setup for prot is - Devastate, Sunder Armor and Blocking.  Devastate to get the stacks of sunder armor up quickly to get hunters, rogues, wars etc at max damage ASAP.  Sunder Armour to apply sunders to adds because this helps with AoE threat generation alot and also if i switch targets it helps to keep SA refreshed.  Glyph of blocking to increase my blocking value.  However if my role would be primarily single target tanking - then I would switch Glyph of Sunder Armour for Glyph of Vigilance, so I could both increase my threat generated and lower the threat of the raid member who tops the threat charts another 5%.

Hmm, my bad on this, forgot to factor in the extra hander's required hit. But yea, with this, it is greatly diminished rather than becoming useless, once again my bad on that.

As for exp, it is indeed useless. There has really only been 1 boss in the whole of WotLK that I had troubles positioning behind the boss, and that is Kologarn, so I do not see an issue with melee being able to clump up behind.

Sorry for the delay.

After speaking with admins we've decided to reject your application as we're quite full on melee atm, especially warriors!

Good luck finding a home Cheesy
